An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but with overdraft protection, Advantage FCU will pay it anyway.

  • Full Coverage - Option 1

    Overdraft Protection with Privilege Pay
    With this additional option you can OPT IN to Smart Pay which would ALLOW Advantage to authorize and pay for the following types of transactions:
    • Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
    • Automatic bill payments
    • ATM transactions
    • Everyday debit card transactions

    Advantage pays overdrafts at our discretion, which means Advantage DOES NOT GUARANTEE that it will always be authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we DO NOT authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.

    Service Charge With Advantage’s Additional Overdraft Protection Plan 1: Overdraft Protection with Privilege Pay there is a service charge of $32.00* each time we pay an overdraft. There is NO LIMIT on the total fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account.

  • Full Coverage - Option 2

    Overdraft Line of Credit

    This additional overdraft option offers members the flexibility of a line of credit. If you do not have enough funds in your Checking Account when a transaction occurs, Advantage will take the funds from your Overdraft Line of Credit to cover the transaction. Instead of being charged a service fee for each transaction, you are only paying a few dollars in interest.   You must apply and be approved for an Overdraft Line of Credit.

    Service Charge With Advantage’s Additional Overdraft Protection Plan 2: Overdraft Line of Credit there is a $20.00 annual service charge. There is NO per transaction service charge with the option.

  • Standard - Practice 1

    Savings Transfer
    If you do not have enough funds in your Checking Account when a transaction occurs but funds are available in your Savings Account, Advantage will transfer the funds from your Savings Account to cover the transaction.
    Service Charge
    There is a $5.00 per transfer service charge and you must have money in savings in order for the transfer to occur.

    Overdraft Protection
    Advantage WILL authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
    • Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
    • Automatic bill payments

    Advantage WILL NOT authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you ask us to (see below):

    • ATM transactions
    • Everyday debit card transactions
