Advantage Federal Credit Union has recently received calls reporting that people have received text messages or pages on cell phones in a fraudulent attempt to gain personal information in regards to their debit card.

Advantage is confident that no member information has been compromised. Many of those who have called us to report this incident have never been members of the credit union, therefore the data could not have been obtained from any credit union files. This appears to be a scam involving random phone numbers which were somehow obtained by fraudsters.

It’s important to remember that Advantage Federal Credit Union and Visa© will never directly contact cardholders to request personal credit or debit card information. NEVER give out your card number, PIN (Personal Identification Number) or personal information over the phone unless you initiate the call.

Members who provided personal information to fraudsters should immediately contact the credit union at (585)454-5900.
